Better off using it on PC or not at all

A recent update made it so keyboards are forced to use a customized layout which gives priority to @ and #, making them replace more important keys such as the period (which in many keyboards also gives access to other keys through long press). This issue is even present when sending direct messages, which makes the whole process counterproductive. Punctuation is actually more important than tagging people and things, so it would be great if we could focus on that instead of being forced to use a layout no one asked for. At the very least there should be an option to turn that off if we desire.
