The new update is strange???

The new organization of tweets, that is divided into "tweets" and "tweets & replies" is ridiculous. Its very confusing and unnecessary. I do like the new format for replies though. But I dont understand why the age on the app would be changed? Theres already settings in the app that help restrict inappropriate info, so why not add a restrictions section in the app (with setting like "filter out these words" or "do not show sensitive images"), with a passcode for users or users parents to use for setting restrictions rather than making the whole app 17+?
