Why does it clear notifications?

Again and again the notifications get cleared for various reasons. Most annoyingly, after you reopen the app from a double click on the home button after you have seen an interesting item on the lock screen. Also when you select notifications within the app. Or even sometimes when you swipe up to scroll the conversations.
Other than that, a solid app.
